Our belief is based on evidence

Collective leadership enhances community resilience; improves performance of organizations, groups, and teams; and fosters personal growth.

At People First Development, we believe that effective leadership is not just about individual capabilities but about fostering a collective capacity to drive sustainable development initiatives. To us, it is imperative that we embrace this model of leadership (collective leadership) as an important lever for advancing global development and investing resources in its development.

In a two-phased research approach—an Evidence Review and Co-operative Inquiry—Our team gathered and synthesized insights from a wide range of sources, highlighting the importance of bridging the gap between academic research and practical application. Despite the challenges in fully capturing the complexities of collective leadership, the findings underscore that effective leadership development is essential for enhancing development outcomes. The report of this study advocates for a shift in focus from merely implementing proven practices to fostering leadership capabilities within systems, recognizing that the motivations and agency of leaders significantly influence the success of development initiatives.

We invite you to explore the insights and recommendations presented in our reports available below. Together, we can harness the power of collective leadership to drive meaningful change and achieve sustainable development for all
